About the Role
Host, plan, research and produce local and state news content for 88.9/89.1 Monday-Friday afternoon news program, All Things Considered including coordination on content materials. Produce additional content that can be used on ATC and Morning Edition.
Coverage includes regional news/feature planning and research for communities within station coverage areas and issues that affect the state of Florida
Produce long-form features for the state news program Capital Report.
Participate in special live local news productions, including special news elements to include in the broadcasts.
Participate in fundraising-related station projects and activities. Keeps current on issues of importance and interest to listeners.
Assist in collecting, editing, and posting content to web site.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree and two years of experience related to the duties of this position; or a high school diploma/equivalent and six years of experience related to the duties of this position.
Experience with the ethics, rules, and procedures of Journalism.
Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Knowledge of applicable computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite, and basic computer functions.
Knowledge of the standards, principles, trends, and practices of television and radio production.
Experience operating a variety of radio production and remote location equipment.
Experience writing and producing news/feature/public affairs segments for broadcast.
Experience editing and/or proofreading information in various formats.
Adhere to newsroom policy of accuracy, fairness, balance and high production standards.
Adhere to WFSU and FCC standards and policies.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
A valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
