The Florida Student News Watch joins the Institute for Nonprofit News

Tallahassee, FL – March. 6, 2026 – The Florida Student News Watch is one of the newest members of the Institute for Nonprofit News, a network of independent, nonpartisan news organizations dedicated to high standards in journalism provided as a public service.

The News Watch was one of just 14 organizations granted full membership status in this year’s round of applications, joining more than 500 newsrooms across North America. INN members gain access to resources, training opportunities, and tools that develop journalists’ business skills, help them achieve success and sustainability, expand audience reach, and build new models for news.

"We're absolutely thrilled to be one of the 14 full members to join INN this year,” News Watch Founder CD Davidson-Hiers said. “This means so much to our team and helps us build credibility and sustainability for our program,"

Criteria for INN membership is centered on editorial excellence in news coverage, editorial independence, and financial transparency. Joining the network also grants the News Watch access to INN’s NewsMatch, the largest grassroots fundraising campaign to support nonprofit news in the U.S.

Board members are available for further comment.
